Monday, 12th November 2012 – In an atmosphere much suited to swashbuckling antics and mutinous crews, Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, the champagne brand with the distinctive yellow label, hosted its annual Yelloween bash on the eve of a new moon at The Pool, Jalan Ampang. Inside, guests á la Jack Sparrow and fair maidens roamed the grounds in search of fun and festivities within the “pirates den”, a watery lair in which a patriotic yellow flag was flown at full mast in honor of Madame Clicquot, an exceptional woman who always demanded only one quality when it came to champagne – the finest.
Raise the VC flag! Pirates and Damsels-in-distress spotted at Veuve Clicquot’s annual Halloween bash
With the anticipation of the night’s activities as thick as thieves, MC of the night Will Quah announced the main Bounty – a treasure hunt to seek 500 coins within the premises of The Pool. Each coin would allow its bearer to a 1% discount off the purchase of any bottles of Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label for the night, with the more coins being accumulated, the bigger the discount to its bearer. As guests such as musician and composer Yuri Wong, Kakiseni curator Low Ngai Yuen, Bella host Elaine Daly and actor Melvin Sia compared outfits, tarot card readers mingled amongst guests – offering guidance for those seeking answers to love and fortune through the flick of a card!
Guests enjoyed Veuve Clicquot champagne from the VC Comet, a Veuve Clicquot ice bucket that holds three 75cl bottles with a light on top and for those who ordered a 75cl bottle of Veuve Clicquot, the bottle was presented to them with the VC Neon Clicquot – an LED light that caught everyone’s eye.
With the night still young, Will Quah kept guests entertained with a series of pirate-themed trivia questions, during which exclusive, quirky and cool Veuve Clicquot merchandise was up for grabs. While guests continued their treasure hunt for coins, DJs Nasty and Guru Guru took to the decks to spin a selection of electro-inflected tracks to set the party mood.
In a recreation of diving for Davy Jones’ locket, divers made their way to the bottom of the outdoor pool to retrieve two keys. Using these keys, Roen Cian of The Pool and Karen Ong, Marketing Director of Moet Hennessy Malaysia, opened treasure chests to reveal the winners of the Lucky Draw and warmly gave out RM1500 worth of dining vouchers from The Pool. Once the winners of the Best Dressed Male and Female were announced, the pirates and maidens at Veuve Clicquot’s Yelloween Party wasted no time in getting back to festivities, with the help of Nasty and Guru Guru!
