The forefront of Electronic Music Movement gaining global recognition presents a unique moment for Zouk KL to launch something spectacular for the local Trance scene. Its specific blend of minimalist beats, arpeggiated rhythms, and repeating melodic phrases took the dance scenes into mainstream popular culture – stemming a musical movement still pumping till this day.
Seeing a peak and a drop of its popularity since the 1990’s, Trance music’s die-hard fans stuck by it, culminating in a resurgence of the movement in more recent times best displayed by international events such as “A State of Trance” and locally by the hordes of fans that turned out last Friday night to Zouk KL’s TranceSylvania.
This 2018 sees a diversified lineup of Malaysia’s favorites and three other international Trance DJs performing their best all-time-high at Zouk Mainroom. Our local talents include Chukiess & Whackboi, DJ Fono, and Boris Foong. It was no stranger to the crowd, as everyone was dancing and swaying to the sounds of the familiar tones of these local Trance spin artists.
As the crowd started swarming up and the intensity magnifies, it was known that the audiences were prepared for this year’s headliners featuring: KhoMha, Super 8 & Tab, and upcoming Dutch Trance DJ – Willem De Roo. It was thirty past midnight when the Finnish duo whom helped kick start the ‘Hybrid Trance’ revolution took over the stage. Janne Mansnerus and Miika Eloranta of Super 8 & Tab remain unparalleled in creating euphoric dancefloor experiences for their audiences as always via their high-energy DJ sets. One of the audiences’ favorites of the night was when they featured tracks from their latest album – ‘Reformation Part 1’.
Transcending the limitations of traditional Dance music, KhoMha dropped his beats right after. All the way from Columbia, audiences heard ‘The Dark Knight’ spin his best tunes live at Zouk Mainroom’s turntables with his thrilling dancefloor-destroyers such as ‘Asylum’ and more. As the night went on, the following lineup also ‘wow-ed’ fans with his tracks like ‘Hyperdrive’ and ‘Dark Warrior’. Willem De Roo is definitely one to keep an eye out for in the near future, as this young bud had the whole room pumping and dancing to his sick beats and even Trance legend Armin Van Buuren can’t stop playing his tunes! It was a successful event nevertheless, keeping fans wanting more and Zouk Club KL itself looking more forward than ever to next year’s TranceSylvania event once again.
