It’s great to hear from you, DJ Diamond. How’s your night spinning at Luna Bar today?
I had a blast, I always do, I love what I do for a living. The night was a little slow, I think the rain might have kept the people away as well the fact Roger Sanchez was playing down the street. Bit the people that were there seemed to be having a good time. Im playing again tonight, Im looking forward to it.
How did you get involved with the party at Luna?
Luna bar hired me to play two nights in July last year, it went great so they asked me back.
How did you get your start DJing?
I started on stage in theater when I was seven so Ive always loved performing. In college I was studing Medicine and I took a study/work abroad oppertunity in England in ’91, there I was introduced to house music at the Hacienda in Manachester, England, I feel in love with the music. I continued my education, graduated with a Spots Medicine degree and found that I was bored and didn’t want to continue to work in that field. I took all what I loved, music and performing and decided to become a DJ. I bought turntables and taught myself how to play and from there it took off. I’ve been all over the world playing music for people.
Can you tell us some of the DJs you have worked with?
Ive worked with many talented people, some of the more famous names are Paul Oakenfold, Bad Boy Bill, Donald Glaude, DJ Irene and Rap, Infected Mushroom, Matt Darey , Good Charlotte and The Cult to name a few major names.
What has been influencing you lately?
I love the fact that many old 80’s tunes are being remixed with the Electro house flare, its my era of growing up so I love the music. Its very fun and upbeat.
Is there anything you would like to shout outs?
