MaRLo Interview – TWELVE 13 Exclusive

Hi Marlo. How is your New Year celebration?
Hi! Absolutely fantastic, was such a pleasure spending NYE with the great people in Kuala Lumpur.

Obviously this is not your first time in Malaysia. What do you think of your fans here?
I love them!! They are so passionate about the music, and have so much energy. I always love playing in Malaysia.

What goes through your mind when you’re on the stage performing for TWELVE 13?
I am thinking of what tunes am I going to play next hahaha

You’ve had some of the world’s biggest and best DJ’s and producers give you props. Which of your peers do you admire the most and why?
Ah, there’s too many to mention. So many are doing great music right now!

What is your favourite track at this moment?
I love playing my own tunes that I’ve worked on in the studio for so much time, and then seeing the crowd respond to it… so probably “MaRLo – The Future”. There’s no better feeling than seeing people react to a new tune that you have put everything into.

Where do you get the inspiration in music production?
Life itself as well as other music.

What motivates you when you have producer’s block?
I have been fortunate enough to have never had a “Block” yet… fingers crossed it never happens.

How was your New Year experience in Kuala Lumpur?
Just fantastic! Loved it 🙂

Any collaboration plans for 2013?
Yes a few actually, but can’t reveal with who yet

Throughout your career as a DJ and producer, what would you say was the one moment that made you step back and go… wow!
Every morning when I wake up and I get to do what I love to do and work in my studio or tour. Of course some of the big events like Trance Energy, Stereosonic, ASOT, Creamfields, Sensation etc. all make you step back and go WOW! As well though.

What else is going on in the world of Marlo?
So much! I have a whole bunch of new tracks coming out and am working on a big video clip for a new vocal track too which should be out in March. I’ve also just finished a remix for one of my favourite vocalists.

What gift you’ve received from your fans?
Best gift: The best gift is the view I get when the crowd put their hands in the air, or when the crowd cheers when they are having a good time.

Crazy gift: Not sure… maybe I don’t get enough gifts.
