Company Is Family – Tannoy Boom EP‏

Mark and Luke McEvoy, brothers and celebrated talents on the Liverpool’s bustling House and Tech music scene have joined forces to assemble their new collaboration under their collaborative signature Company Is Family. This new musical brotherhood was formed a year ago and has led to multiple releases through various leading labels including: Tenampa, Carpe Diem Muzika, District Raw and 3B Records to name but a few. Released exclusively on Beatport – ‘Tannoy Boom’ is their latest output, a four-track EP featuring remixes by Pascal Hetzel and Agaric.

‘Tannoy Boom’ has been in line with Company Is Family’s recent success and has already gained support from the likes of Sasha, Alan Fitzpatrick and a long list of leading spinners that know a thing or two about high-end House music. The EP begins with the original mix of ‘Tannoy Boom’, the track which inspired the name of the EP. The duo has managed to create a unique sounding production, driven by tribal electronic percussion, chunky beats and a dark and mellow synth arrangement to set the tone of the track. Company Is Family spiced up the track with a reedy, looping synth pattern and added a foundation of synth-strings to darken the mood. On the other hand, Pascal Hetzel provided an alternative interpretation of the track. His remix is more uplifting, using solid straight kick drum beats and deep, thick bass sounds to make the track harder. Although the underlying strings are kept to maintain hold of the original atmosphere, Pascal Hetzel offers a different side to the tribal element in the production. The sound of the Darbouka makes this production sound more Arabic, which truly creates a killer combination when added to electronic sounds. The German DJ and producer has definitely presented a remarkable addition to the EP and can now add this collaboration to his list, boasting names such as: Eintakt, Wood Rec, Joint Nation, KiNK and Sierra Sam.

This EP contains a second solo effort by Company Is Family, called ‘Sun Singer’. Building on the Arabic theme set by Pascal Hetzel’s remix of ‘Tannoy Boom’, this track puts it even more in the limelight. The North African style singing and percussion rhythms, together with the electronic creations of this talented duo make the audience feel as if they are at a club in the heart of a desert. This track without a doubt offers an oasis of creative sounds looking to satisfy the most demanding sonic palettes. Although the production falls predominantly into the Tech House genre, the Chill-Out elements ought to be noticed, giving a distinctive vibe to the track. Once again, the more accessible version of the song is provided via a remix. Swedish DJ and producer Agaric, added his take on this song, hardening the groove and using harsher sounds. Agaric added an enlarged electronic element to the track, distancing himself from the Arabic theme to give space for added vibrant elements which provide a more vivacious finale to this EP. This remix is a display of Agaric’s technical skill and acute sense of dynamic control. Through this collaboration, Company Is Family have truly added a world-class partnership on this record. Having played all over the world, collaborated with leading international DJs and gaining support from the likes of: Josh Wink, Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler, Loco Dice, and Ben Klock; Agaric has a resume which speaks volumes.

‘Tannoy Boom’ is being released through New Violent Records, who will be proud to add this EP to their catalogue after the success they achieved with the debut releases of Fideles and Nikola Gala, which gained significant support from some of the most influential DJs in the business.
