Simon Patterson has written and released a statement on his fan page expressing his disappointment on his upcoming shows in Asia where he supposed to perform in Kuala Lumpur, Miri & Manila next week but his Asia tour shows are cancelled by an undisclosed promoter. Let’s hope he will be back to Malaysia in future or soon. Here is the statement about the cancelled events.
“If there is one thing I hate doing – it’s having to cancel shows but unfortunately that is now exactly what I have decided to do – with regards to this weekend’s Asia tour.
Despite my management’s continued efforts we have been unable to get satisfactory responses from the promoter relating itineraries, flights and payment of my fee. The first show is supposed to be tomorrow and I have no flights, no itinerary details and my fee has not been transferred according to the contracted terms we all signed many months ago. Now I know what you’re thinking – here’s another financially motivated DJ who only cares about the money. That’s not the case, I’m motivated by my love of music but at the same time I have bills to pay and I’m not prepared to do my job for free unless it’s for an event that has a free entry. Last year I travelled to Colombia to play an amazing show for a promoter that I thought was professional but it turned out I was wrong and in making that mistake I didn’t get paid a penny and in fact the trip cost me considerably. It’s a shame because the show was incredible and the clubbers in Colombia were just so passionate and amazing to play for. Gutted!!
I put my trust in a “promise” from a promoter who was supposed to be trustworthy but who turned out not to be and I was the one that ended up paying for that misjudgement. So I thought it best you all know the facts – that now I am no longer prepared to travel on a “promise”. Call me old fashioned but if you’re not prepared to stick to terms set out in a contract – why the fuck do you sign your name to them?
Enough bitching. To all my fans in Asia that were coming to this weekend’s shows – I apologise to you whole heartedly for not making it but please – any frustrations you want to voice – voice them towards the promoter who had months and months to sort everything out. I hope to be back in the area soon.” – Simon Patterson
