The first ever Soundplate Awards nominations are now closed, and it’s time to start voting.
The categories reflect an amazing year in emerging music, and include ‘Best Remix’ ‘Best UK DJ/ Producer’ ‘Best Mixtape/Podcast’ ‘Best Club night’ and ‘Best Specialist Radio Show’. They’re also a nod to the expected rise of the digital music industry, something which reached a high in 2012, arguably giving acts and labels such as Happa, Karma Kid, Black Butter Records the recognition and success achieved, as well as a surge in digital mixes and pod casts.
Finalists include Disclosure, Foamo, Pirupa, Dusky, PMR records, Happa, Karma Kid and Julio Bashmore.
The awards have already seen some heavy Twitter and Facebook support from it’s finalists including from the likes of DJ Q and MA1.
Here’s a few words from Soundplate Founder Matt Benn summing the awards up:
“After the first week of voting we were already amazed by the number of votes that are coming in. It’s great to see so many people supporting their favorite artists, labels and club nights. It seems like the finalists are really getting behind the idea and campaigning for their votes, tweets and Facebook statuses have been flying around from most of the nominees already! It’s going to be really interesting to see who wins – and a good excuse to throw a party!”
