Jano Interview – TWELVE 13 Exclusive

Here is the last interview for TWELVE 13. An interview from Marlo’s wife – Jano. Jano is the the vocalist for Andrew Rayel’s – How Do I Know.

Hi Janette. How do you like Kuala Lumpur so far?
Hi! I am having a great time in Kuala Lumpur. I landed after the rain had stopped, so it has been great weather, great company, great food, great shopping! What’s not to like?

Did you try any Malaysian food yet?
Yes. I have been to Malaysia many times already, so I have had the opportunity to eat plenty of Malaysian food. I really like Nasi Lemak 🙂

When did you discover Electronic Dance Music?
I had a taste of Electronic music when I was a teenager, but it didn’t really speak to me back then. I used to think it was just repetitive noise. I was more into singer/songwriter and live music. It wasn’t until MaRLo helped me appreciate electronic music in 2005 that I really fell in love with it. His passion and understanding of the music is infectious.

The track ‘How do I know’ was a successful collaboration with Andrew Rayel. Can you tell us how this amazing collaboration started?
At the start of 2011 Andrew’s manager got in touch with me and asked me if I would want to do a track with Andrew. I wasn’t too sure who he was at the time, and in fact it was MaRLo who encouraged me to do it, he really believed in Andrew. Andrew sent me a few different track ideas and when I heard the track that is now “How Do I Know” I just knew that was the one. The piano in it is so amazing and it connected with me. I listened to the instrumental on repeat for weeks 

Who would you like to work with in 2013?
My wish list is Armin van Buuren, Zedd, Hardwell and MaRLo.

Musically, what makes you drawn to trance?
The emotion. Same reason I like singer/songwriter and acoustic music.

What you would like to do during your free time?
Free time? What is that?

Who is your all-time favourite singer?
I honestly don’t have one. I go through phases of being obsessed with certain singers. I listen to them over and over until I find the next one. Right now, I am in love with Foxes.

How was your New Year experience in Kuala Lumpur?
It was great! The event was a lot of fun. I got to hang out with Andrew, who I met for the first time. I also met Eco, Wezz and Ruben. All really nice guys… and Ruben is really funny!

Any beauty tips you would like to share with your ladies fans in Malaysia?
Water, mascara, lip gloss and sunscreen.

How does it feel to be famous alongside with your husband, Marlo?
I wouldn’t say I am famous. But my gorgeous husband is doing so well at the moment and I couldn’t be prouder! He is so talented and the hardest working person I know. Seeing people all over the world appreciate his music is so great.

What else is going on in the world of Jano?
We bought a house and just adopted a gorgeous puppy. 🙂 That takes up a lot of time.

What is your favourite perfume?
Cool Water (Davidoff)
