American indie pop songwriter/singer, Ashley J evokes a sultry magnetism in her new “Trapped” music video; a follow up to the critically-acclaimed single release. Ashley J penned the intriguing and captivating song, which was produced by Grammy Award-Winning songwriter/producer Narada Michael Walden and released via her own imprint, Bombshell Music, Inc.
Directed by New York based Courtney Harvier and Executive Produced by Ramon Hervey II, the video was filmed in Brooklyn, NY. Enclosed in a white cyc space, we initially find Ashley J wearing the black leather vest as seen in her single cover artwork. Each shot of the video captures stunning frames of Ashley dressed in a variety of looks.
As the video continues, Ashley is caught and pinned against walls that narrow and trap her in a in a continually shrinking space. Her breathe-taking performance further aligns with the lyrics of the song as she sings “I’m trapped, gasping to breathe. You look straight through me while I stare at defeat.” The concept of the walls and compressed space was inspired by legendary photographer Irving Penn’s classic black and white portraits of Georgia O’keeffe and the Duchess of Windsor, taken in 1948. Various special effects were illuminated using a steel gobo lighting projector to conceive a range of dreamy and hypnotic colored effects.
“Trapped” is currently #10 on the European Independent Music Charts! Watch the music video below.
